NATO Special Operations Forces
2nd Edition: The Future has begun
(Englisch)
To cope with the threats of the 21st century, Special Operations Forces (SOF) play an increasingly significant role within the armed forces of almost all NATO countries as an inevitable response to terrorism and asymmetric warfare. For understandable reasons you will find - even in professional military publications - a very reserved media coverage on SOF. SOF of various NATO countries are partially looking back on a long tradition regarding SOF on a national basis. Against the background of current requirements for NATO and after having achieved full operational capability the NSHQ will become the single point of direction and coordination for all NATO Special Operations related activities optimising employment of Special Operations Forces to include providing an operational command capability when directed by SACEUR. The NSHQ is the Alliance proponent for NATO SOF policy, standards, doctrine, training, education and assessments, which maintains and develops a robust operational command, control, communication, computers, and intelligence (C4I) capability equipped with organic SOF enablers to ensure interoperability and enhance employment of NATO Special Operations.Aus dem Inhalt:
